OUR BELIEFS
We believe in God's grace….
God, the author of all things good, created humans in his image to live in fellowship with Him, others, and creation. Sin entered the world and our relationships with God, others, and creation were brokenand distorted. Rather than abandon or destroy His creation, God promised to restore this broken world. In spite of our frequent acts of unfaithfulness towards Him, God’s grace always gives ussecond chances, third chances, and never stops giving us chances. God is not repelled by us no matter how messy we are, and when we realize this, what else can we do but give in to his outrageous, indiscriminate love. God invites everyone into this way of life, and we believe it is the best possible way to live.
What we believe about God and Jesus….
We believe that God exists in three persons the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that He is holy, all powerful, all knowing, loving and just. We believe in the Holy Spirit who convicts us of sin, gives power to the church, is a gift from the Father who walks with us daily, and is always pointing us to - You guessed it - Jesus. God's son who was fully human and fully God when He was born to the virgin Mary. We really like Jesus a lot, but He loves us even more, in fact Jesus loved us first before we even knew Him. Jesus loved us enough to die in our place for our sinful, selfish desires and there is nothing we can do to make Him love us less. Because He rose from the dead, we live in the hope of a new heaven and new earth which will be restored to perfection when Jesus returns to defeat evil forever and to reign over His redeemed world for eternity.
We believe in the Bible….
We believe the Bible to be the very word of God as spoken through the voices and accounts of many who have come before us. Inspired by God and absolutely reliable, it continues to speak to all of us today. The Bible is God’s true story about who He is, what He has done, what He is doing, and what He will do. God calls us to read and be transformed by His authoritative word as we faithfully follow the Holy Spirit and continue to live out the story in today’s world.
We believe in the Church….
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, is not a building, but is made up of imperfect people who are responding each and every day in their lives to God’s stunning grace. Whether we like it or not, or attend it or not, the Church is not optional. The purpose of the church is to put the risen Christ who lives in and through us on display to a broken and hurting world. We never want to forget that the church is the only organization ever created for non-members instead of its members. As a church we celebrate Baptism and Communion, which are gifts given to us by Christ to experience His promises and presence with us.
