CORE VALUESAt renew, we are committed to 3 primary core values that shape every decision we make every day of our life. Connecting to Christ , Connecting to People, and Connecting to the City are the foundational commitments we make to each other and the values that drive us most deeply and shape our church’s life. We believe that Christianity is about Connecting, not Separating, and that Jesus came for ALL of us so that we could reconnect to our Heavenly Father and each other.

Connect to Christ, People, and the Community
Connecting to Christ
At renew church we are committed to creating environments that connect people to God. We believe God desires an intimate relationship with each of us and that the purpose of church is to engage people into an intimate relationship with Him, not to just become a member of a church or a religion.
Connecting to People
renew will always be the place where the person who has not yet decided to follow Christ, but is spiritually open and interested is welcomed. We acknowledge that people are not perfect, that everyone needs renewal in their life, and we are committed to helping each other connect with each other and the church. We understand that everyone needs a sense of belonging where they can be known – can love and be loved - can ask questions - can help carry each others burdens – and can work together to love our neighbors and care for those with needs.
Connecting to the City
When we look at church history it is no secret that the early church grew because it loved and served others. The early church joined God where His heart was – “in the city”. God has always been about all His people; those in the church and especially those outside of the church. Scripture reveals that God desires for all people to be treated justly, live in safety, and possess life's basic necessities. At renew we have been called to join God in the desires of His heart and His mission to impact the city.

Religion is a dirty word to so many people. It speaks of judgment, piety, and irrelevance as well as being impersonal and dead. We don’t believe God is a fan of the word either; most “religious” things tend to be devoid of the spark of His favor and presence. At renew we embrace James 1:27 - “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God,
the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” This verse and the word “afflicted” motivate us to be about our Father’s business and to move past being a dead and impersonal religion of being “affected”, to being a community of believers “infected” with the love, grace, and power of Jesus Christ. If you desire to call renew your church, expect to be encouraged and required to actively participate in serving our community while seeking to “walk like Jesus did”. |
